A trial of modified police uniforms has been announced by the NSW Police. The uniforms are designed to increase comfort and safety for frontline police. Five hundred police from a number of commands will be issued with navy drill pants with side pockets general purpose GP boots and navy baseball caps.
Incident response vehicles are used by police forces 39 response teams to respond to 999 calls and to conduct patrols. They are fitted with blue lights and sirens to enable the vehicle to warn other vehicles of their presence. Common vehicles used as IRVs include the Vauxhall Astra Vauxhall Insignia Ford Focus and Peugeot 308SW.
