the 7.5/7.625 is a luck of the draw type thing. Old friend had a 95 Z28 with a lt4 hot cam 150 NOS running thru a stk 4l60e and a regeared only 7.5 rear 3.73 Richmond gear and never had an issue. He raced it just about every weekend and the fastest he ran was like a 11.88 or so. EVEN ran BFG drag radials.
