Countless owners of the 6.4L Ford Powerstroke have replaced their EGR coolers 23 times in the first 100000. This is terrible on your wallet and also could cause damage to your engine. The Coolers from BulletProof are made 100 of stainless steel and feature a design internally all their own.
I truly don 39t believe that they are good after you bulletproof it. The truck is a overall pile of shit. Looks great but I can 39t trust it taking it anywhere. I have now spent over 20k in repairs for 25k miles of use. Let some other fool have the headache. You can find a damn nice 7.3 or duramax for what you can sell that for.
You can save some by doing it yourself but it 39s a cab off job and hard for the common man to do. Just my opinion and I own a 6.4 there is no way you could give me one that needs pistons and turbos. Chances are they are connected and there will be stray metal all over that motor. No way would it be good for you.

I have seen several write ups on different things we as 6.4L owners need to consider doing if we add performance parts. I have also read a few articles about some of the design issues with our trucks...radiators etc. All in all it seems like the 6.4 is a really relaible motor if you are...
You can decide whether you want to protect all panels round or only certain panels. Also you need to decide on the level of protection. Currently only a few bulletproof vehicle companies offer protection against the penetrating force of a 0.5 caliber .

Junk.. YOu cant change my mind on them sure they make more power then the 6.0 But for the average joe who puts a tuner on his truck egr delete and does studs.. your solid on a 6.0 you do all that on a 6.4 and you have to wonder about cavitation.. rod issues.. piston issues. lifter issues. no thank you Ill take a d max over one of those things
My question is Can you bullet proof a 6.4 the same way as a 6.0 Ive looked around and dont really see much other than DPF delete. These days the DPF has to stay installed. Im too wary in todays world to go through a roadside check and get caught. Same with EGR. With the DPF is it inherently not able to be bullet proofed
The 6.0L intake/exhaust/auto trans can support 500hp so no worries there. Stock injectors can support 400 hp. Or you can buy a rust free 7.3L and put 1500 into intake exhaust gauges and a tune and you might be able to squeeze out 300 hp/ 575 ft lbs from it. Anything more than that and you need injectors oil pump turbo and a 3500 trans.

Granted there are design flaws that were carried over from the 6.0liter but a lot of the failures can be contributed to inadequate maintenance. All diesel engines need routine maintenance but the 6.4liter Power Stroke needs more and there are areas that can be improved.

Dont get the wrong idea. I dont think anyone will criticize you for doing what you think is best for your 6.0. What everyone on this site will advise you is to bulletproof your truck. Obviously you wont take my advice and thats ok but you should do what the real experts say who actually live this stuff.
The 6.4 has a few things you can do to help it last longer but still no where close to the reliability of its predecessors. As of yet the only quotmodquot you can do to prevent the 6.7 from biting you in the derrire is Nick 39s 50 mod 10 worth of diesel and 40 worth of ammonium nitrate .
Ford 6.0 and 6.4 Powerstroke Bulletproof Packages. Nothing beats a durable truck that can handle just about anything you can throw at it. As most of us know the 6.0 and 6.4 Powerstroke suffer from a few flaws from the factory that dramatically lowered the dependability of our trucks. From insufficient strength stretch to yield head bolts to a EGR cooling system known to fail the list goes on.

Whatever you do avoid the 6.4 at all costs. The new 6.7 is a much improved over the 6.4. Main problem with the 6.4 is all the emissions stuff that makes it run too hot and burn itself up. 6.0 does not have the same emissions stuff although the engine designs are similar. 6.7 is a new design and not the same family as 6.0/6.4 family.
